Description
Ninety years ago, The Morton Hotel in Grand Rapids, Michigan was the place to stay when business travelers came by the trainload to buy furniture for their stores back home. This is a decoratively etched door of a safe found in the basement there.
Designed by the same architects who designed the Palmer House in Chicago, the 13-story structure was described by The Grand Rapids Herald as "the last word in quiet, conservative, substantial construction."
