Black lines come together with a rustic, textured background in this abstract oil painting. This was a commission painting done for a good friend. I studied new techniques in adding cold wax to oil and in starting in acrylic and ending in oil. Adding numerous paint layers, many of which were mostly covered by the next taught me lessons in editing and letting things go. This allowed for great texture. Sanding down to reach the layers below was satisfying in the way of artistic archaeology. The black lines were inspired by a love of their family for ballet.
